to be honest when i was in my youth i was one of those reckless teenagers who never really saw the need for anything i just enjoyed education because of my love of the English language i enjoyed school because of short stories and poetry that's the only thing i took seriously , today i have to say i really wish i had seen things in a different light but lucky enough when i went to varsity somebody who was dear to me told me how important it was for me to take education seriously and i lived by those words and i am very thankfully because it changed my life around. I am not from a well off family but through education my family is on a journey of transformation and i can say things are very promising.
I believe each and every South African should do something to honor the lives of the youth that lost their lives on that fateful day of June 16 1976. I have made a promise to myself to get educated to me education is far beyond me getting a diploma so i can get a job, education is there to open many doors it teach us to be more than a potential employee it teaches us to go out there and become entrepreneurs be employers, the bottom line is education can help make the world a better place it can change your life for the better depending on what you choose to do after getting the education.
To make proper use of education one must also know his/her strengths what good will be of education if your in the wrong path, the problem that i experienced in my life is that when we are young we grow up believing that the only purpose of going to school is to get money and due to this nature of thinking we follow popular careers such as medicine only to find we cannot be our best because we are in it for the money i believe if we all followed our purpose we would all be able to make something of ourselves there would be a place for us in the world to make a difference and also earn a living, the problem is from our background but all in all everyone of us needs education and I am truly thankful to the youth that laid down their lives so that today i can be free to choose the kind of education that fits my needs, i am thankful that today i have the freedom to learn in my mother tongue, we have come so far as a country and we still have a long road ahead of us.
At a young age we fail to see how certain things are important and i believe many people like myself fail to see the significance of today ,we often don't give enough credit to the things that matter the most but i urge everyone to take it upon themselves to go out and get education to try and make a difference, to be the change they want to see in the world .its never too late to get an education, i cannot stress enough how important education is it can change things around for you .
Education teaches one a lot of things it sets you off in life no matter what field you end up in, education will help you succeed i know a lot of people will be drinking tonight but please don't let it end with a glass of wine after all the alcohol consumption wake up determined to do more with your life make those dreams come true stop procrastinating do something a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step ,take a move in the right direction while at it remember success is not an overnight journey be patient and be prepared to learn.
